چکیده

A rapid and simple assay method for determining neuraminidase activity was investigated fluorometrically with 4-methylumbelliferyl-N-Ac-a-D-neuraminide as a substrate. The time required for performance was less than 3 hr and the activity could be simply measured with a fluorescent spectrophotometer. Neuraminidase activity in culture supernatant of MDCK cell infected with a small quantity of influenza A/ Aichi/2/68 virus was demonstrated by the fluorometric assay 24 hr after infection, when no viral cytopathogenic effect could be observed and no viral multiplication could be demonstrated by the hemagglutination test and the colorimetric neuraminidase assay method using fetuin as a substrate. The result was that the minimum number of virion detectable by the fluorometric neuraminidase assay method was approximately 103 order. 287

Neuraminidase gene sequence analysis of avian influenza H9N2 viruses isolated from Iran

Influenza A viruses possesses two virion surface glycoproteins including haemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA). The NA plays an important role in viral replication and promotes virus release from infected cells and facilitates virus spread throughout the body. To find out any genomic changes that might be occurred on NA gene of avian influenza circulating viruses, we have genetically analy...

Sensitivity of influenza viruses to zanamivir and oseltamivir: a study performed on viruses circulating in France prior to the introduction of neuraminidase inhibitors in clinical practice.

Influenza virus neuraminidase inhibitors (NAIs) were introduced in clinical practice in various parts of the world since 1999 but were only scarcely distributed in France. Prior to the generalization of zanamivir and oseltamivir utilization in our country, we decided to test a large panel of influenza strains to establish the baseline sensitivity of these viruses to anti-neuraminidase drugs, ba...

Attempt at use of the fluorometric neuraminidase assay system for the enzyme antibody inhibition test.

The fluorometric neuraminidase assay method using 4-methylumbelliferyl-N-Ac-aD-neuraminide as a substrate was investigated for the purpose of ascertaining its validity as a procedure for influenza viral neuraminidase antibody inhibition test. The enzyme antibody inhibition titer obtained by the fluorometric assay system was far weaker than that obtained by the standard colorimetric neuraminidas...

Objectives: Influenza is one of the most important emerging and reemerging infectious diseases in the world. The aim of this study is molecular and phylogenetic analyses of the variations in circulating influenza A/H1N1 virus isolates during 2014-2015 in Iran and investigate on the drug resistance conditions in the related Iranian isolates. Material and Methods: Throat samples from Iranian pat...

Isolation of H9N2 Subtype of Avian Influenza Viruses during an Outbreak in Chickens in Iran

Avian influenza is an important disease of poultry with the potential to cause major epidemics resulting in significant economic losses. The presence of avian influenza viruses (AIV) in chickens in Iran has not been previously reported. An avian influenza outbreak in broiler, layer and breeder farms occurred during a very hot summer in July 1998. Three AIV isolates designated as 101, 102 and 10...
